Salamanca University Spanish Language Courses

Spanish Courses

Salamanca University can offer you a broad range of courses throughout the year; from intensive two week programs to a full academic year course as well as personalized courses made to order or specialized courses that allow you to take classes at the University with Spanish students and courses for Spanish teachers.

For most of the courses offered there is no specific Spanish level required to participate; the only restriction is that you must be at least 17 years old when starting the course.

Below you can find a short description of the available Spanish language courses. For full information please see the links at the end of each course description:

Intensive Monthly Courses

The intensive short-term programs start every month throughout the year (less July and August, when a special summer course is arranged, and December) and it is possible to sign up for 2 or more weeks.

Students can choose between 15, 20 or 25 class hours per week and there are 4 different levels from complete beginners to advanced speakers.

Semester Courses - Spanish Language and Culture

The semester courses are divided into 3 semesters or terms, each of approximately 10 weeks of class beginning in October, January and April. It is possible to sign up for three semesters when starting in October, two semesters when starting in January or one semester when starting in April as the semesters are independent courses.

Yearly – Hispanic Studies Program

The full academic year Hispanic Studies Program is a special course for students with advanced levels of Spanish that runs from October to the end of May every year and it is divided into 2 terms.

Summer Program

The summer course is arranged during the months of July and August, starting at the beginning of each month; depending on when you start, it is possible sign up for a 2, 4, 6 or 8 week program.

The structure of the course is practically the same as the short and long term Spanish courses where students can choose between 15, 20 or 25 class hours per week, although for this course there are more optional subjects to choose from; it is also possible for students to sign up for additional conversation classes.

Personalized Spanish Programs

The specialized program offered by Salamanca University is, as its name indicates, a program made specifically for individual or groups and can be arranged throughout the year for a length of time specified by the customer or customers.

Courses for Spanish Teachers

The Spanish courses for teachers of Spanish are weekly or two week courses arranged normally four times per year in April, July, August and December.

The objective of this course is to give teachers of Spanish as a foreign/second language an update of the latest teaching methods from both theoretical and practical perspectives.
